Oakland Kindergarten

This week our Kindergarten class will be learning through the theme of Bears. The children will learn about brown bears, black bears, polar bears, etc. The children will be working more on writing. We are practicing capitalizing the first letter in a sentence, making spaces between words, using punctuation, including sight words and using inventive spelling. This week the children are learning about adjectives and trying to incorporate them in their writing as well. We are reading many versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It is a great learning experience to compare and contrast the setting, characters, plot and conclusion. Also, with the Three Bear stories, the children will be completing unit 5 in math which deals with size. We will learn words such as bigger, smaller, larger, medium sized, capacity, ect. It's going to be another great week!
