This week in the three’s room we will meet Ms.V and learn about vegetables. Ms. V wears a vegetable vest with all her favorite vegetables! We will learn the different parts of a plant and what it takes for a seed to grow. We will plant seeds and find out what our favorite vegetables are. As always we are practicing our home address and our numbers and letters!!

This week in the two’s room we will be exploring different types of bugs ! We will talk about bees, beetles, dragonflys , spiders, and much more !! We also have a special day this Wednesday, it’s pajama day so make sure to come your pj’s ! We will also be having breakfast in our pj’s on Wednesday!

**Also if you have sunscreen or bug spray for your child please feel free to bring them in labeled***

This week in the toddler room it is all about bugs and worms!! We will learn about many different bugs. We will be making bumble bees, ladybugs and spiders. We will also be reading lots of books about different bugs and we will be looking for different bugs outside on the playground. We would also like to wish Miss Michele and Brian a Happy Birthday!! We are going to have a great week!!

Week of May 14th Bauer Drive Kindergarten

This week, we will be super busy! With graduation only about 6 weeks away, we are busy learning our songs and lines.  We will sing them for about 2 weeks and then learn our individualized parts, make props and learn all the actions.  I am sure you are starting to hear some really dynamite singing at home!In our curriculum, we will begin a unit entitled Old MacDonald Had a Woodshop.  We will answer the concept question ” What tools do you need to build things?”  We will learn out amazing words saw, screwdriver, drill, hammer, file and chisel.  All week long we will experience these words through the following stories: Spin the Top, Will Cass Come? We Build a Birdhouse, Max the Hot Rod, Let’s Play Hopscotch, Fix the Big Box, The Best Club Hut and Old MacDonald Had a Woodshop.  Our sight words this week are keep, does, want, know.  In phonics, we will focus on the kn diagraph as well as ch and sh.  We will review all our letters and focus on O in the initial and medial position.  We will discuss characters this week and plot.  Finally, we will learn about fact and opinion. In math, we will continue on with chapter 11.  We are sequencing the days of the week and months of the year.  Next, we will begin chapter 12, Counting on and counting.  The children will develop strategies and learn methods to count on and count back.  Within the context of these activities, the children will build an understanding of and familiarity with number pairs that make tens.  This work will inititate awareness of addition and subtraction.  We will also continue to review all of the concepts learned so far, specifically graphing, patterning and sorting. Finally, we will explore life on a farm thsi week.  We will talk about the animals that live on a farm.  We will spend time working with the pig, duck, sheep, cow and goat.  We will read Three Billy Goats Gruff and put on plays for our classmates.  Also, we will discuss the jobs of the farmer, the crops, the animals and their uses.  It is sure to be a fun week! Finally, on Thursday we will be going to William Paterson College to see the play of Peter Rabbit.  We cannot wait!  Have a great week.  Be sure to get your permission slips for the play and zoo in.

Week of May 14th Bauer Drive Pre-K

This week in Pre-K our theme is “Every WHich Way” and asking the question ” What are the different ways things move?”. Our amazing words this week are bounce, direction, straight, muscle, still and zigzag. Our concept words are down, fast, slow, start, stop and up. Our poem this week is called “Hands” and our book this week is “Oscar and the Cricket”. In literacy we will review the letters Gg and Ee. We will also be working on a sound matching game, letter sounds. In Math we will be working with lentgh. We will play a game to learn how to tell if a object is short or long. Then we will review writing our names and letters. We will about be working on some fun art projects. We will also be working on out graduation songs and working on making some props. We are going to have a great week!
